Capture everything

When only the best will do

Laser scanning is the most efficient way to capture all of your site data. Get millimeter accuracy and reduce human error to start off any project on the right foot.

Save Money

  • Reduce unnecessary trips to site by visiting them remotely.

  • Bring remote sites closer by visiting them virtually.

  • Check clearances and take measurements from the office.

  • Reduce mistakes by working with up-to-date and accurate information

  • Keeps plants up and running by not having to shut down equipment.

  • 3D information helps in clash detecting.

Improve Safety

  • Keep people off the roads by reducing the need to go to site.

  • Reduce the need to enter confined spaces.

  • Keep out of hazardous areas.

  • Limit the amount of people who are unfamiliar with the site.

Save Time

  • Spend less time on site.

  • Take measurements from the office.

  • Eliminate multiple trips to site.

  • Bring project team up to speed faster on site conditions.

What you need to know

Laser scanners are not perfect. There are no laser scanners out there that offer perfect accuracy even in a perfect environment. Environmental factors and different types of surfaces also affect the accuracy of these devices. Click on the "Learn More" button for more information on accuracy.

Case Studies of how we've helped our clients improve the efficiency and quality of their work

Power Generation Station Upgrades

Introduction: After many decades of operation, this generation station was in need of a major upgrade requiring a replacement of most major electrical components, cable tray, transformer oil tanks, and piping.

Challenge: The proposed electrical equipment was bigger than the existing equipment and space was limited. Making sure the equipment would fit in these tight spaces required a high degree of accuracy.

Solution: A point cloud of the entire station was created to identify clearances and to create 2D AutoCAD as-builts and a 3D Revit model used for design.

Benefit: Laser scanning was the best choice for this project as accuracy was crucial to the success of this huge project. The 3D model allowed Engineers to verify horizontal and vertical clearances and design using real-world data.

Deliverables:

  • Point Cloud in RCS, RCP, and PTS formats;

  • AutoCAD general arrangements and lighting layouts for each floor;

  • 3D Revit Model;

  • Cintoo Cloud web viewer access; and

  • 3D model web viewer.

As-Built Drawing Creation for Lighthouse

Introduction: A 100+ year-old lighthouse equipped with a helipad was in need of a structural assessment.

Challenge: No drawings existed.

Solution: A point cloud of the entire lighthouse was created in order to create accurate as-built drawings.

Benefit: Laser scanning was the best choice for this project as it was the only technology capable of capturing the intricate details of a structure such as a lighthouse and hard to reach areas located under the helipad. The point cloud web viewer was used for internal coordination.

Deliverables:

  • Point cloud in RCS and RCP formats and

  • Cintoo Cloud web viewer access.

As-Built Drawing Creation for Treatment Plant

Introduction: A mining company recently came into possession of some assets after purchasing another mining company. Some of these assets did not have up to date accurate as-built drawings.

Challenge: A couple of their plants will be going through some major upgrades in the near future and working with accurate drawings was a must.

Solution: Point clouds of the two stations were created to create as-built AutoCAD drawings.

Benefit: Laser scanning was the best choice for this project as accuracy was important and a lot of time was saved over using traditional methods. The point cloud web viewer was used in design meetings between the Engineer and mining Client.  Laser scanning also identified bowing walls of below grade valve chambers. The client can now identify future movement of these walls by taking subsequent scans a couple years from now.

Deliverables:

  • Point Cloud in RCS and RCP formats;

  • AutoCAD general arrangements and elevation drawings; and

  • Cintoo Cloud web viewer access.

Verifying Clearances for Specialized Equipment

Introduction: A rock breaker was replaced in a mining facility. Clearances needed to be verified before a new one could be purchased.

Challenge: No accurate drawings existed and downtime was an issue.

Solution: A point cloud of the rock breaker area was created to verify clearances.

Benefit: Laser scanning was the best choice for this project as it was the only technology capable of capturing all of this information accurately and within a short timeframe. A black & white point cloud was created to speed up the scanning workflow. The point cloud web viewer was used to coordinate the work between the Engineer, Contractor, and mining Client.

Deliverables:

  • Point cloud in RCS and RCP formats and

  • Cintoo Cloud web viewer access.

Reverse Engineering

Introduction: A pulp & paper company needed to replace an existing door assembly on an evaporator tank. The replacement parts needed to line up perfectly to the tank and piping.

Challenge: The tank is old and the manufacturer is no longer in business. The existing drawings are not detailed or accurate enough to create the parts.

Solution:  A point cloud of the existing door and door assembly was first created in order to create fabrication drawings to be handed over to a fabrication shop.

Benefit: Laser scanning was the best choice for this project as accuracy was extremely important and a lot of time was saved and potential errors were avoided over using traditional methods.

Deliverables:

  • AutoCAD fabrication drawings.
